Zoot Sports announced that it will be the Title Sponsor of the 5430
Triathlon in Boulder, CO on August 26, 2001. The 5430 Triathlon is
the first ever iron distance race to be held in Colorado.
"We are extremely excited to support the first Iron distance race in
Colorado and truly believe this venue provides our athletes with the optimal
playground and grass-roots event, as well as benefiting a very good cause
with the ALS. Earlier this year, Zoot Sports was the sponsor for the 2001
US Winter Triathlon Championships in Winter Park, CO and we will continue to
support the Rocky Mountain region and its great athletes" said CEO, Julia
Hansen.
2001 is the inaugural year for the Zoot Sports 5430 Triathlon, an Iron
distance triathlon consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2
mile marathon starting and finishing at the Boulder Reservoir. A portion of
the proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association, the only national
non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated solely to the fight
against ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
A longtime resident of Boulder, a mecca for triathletes, Race Director Beth
Spiegel felt the city was the perfect venue for the sport's ultimate
challenge and conceived the triathlon. "I am thrilled that we are
partnering with a company that has been rooted in the triathlon community
for over 15 years, and appreciate their support for our event and our
athletes."
