Boulder Peak Triathlon & Duathlon Sunday, August 12, 2001. Boulder, Colorado. 1.5k swim/42k bike/10k run or 5k run/42k bike/5k run www.boulderpeak.com
Sunday's Boulder Peak Triathlon & Duathlon has sold out for the second time this year, with a field of 1500 athletes. Even though the US Pro Championships are taking place in New York on the same day, Boulder Peak has drawn a strong pro field. Former winners Conrad Stoltz and Cam Widoff will line up, as well as Tim DeBoom, Chuckie V, Michael Tobin, Tim Luchinske, and a large group of other strong pros.
The women's field is smaller but still competitive. Lori Bowden is the most well known in the field, but probably not the favorite at this distance. She will face Susan Williams, Nicole DeBoom, Teri Duthie, Kerstin Weule, and others.
The men's duathlon field is the strongest in the five year history of the race. The field includes Chris Tolonen, who recently placed second at the US Pro Championships in Carlsbad. David Rowlands, a top 10 finisher at three European Powermans, has made the trip from New Zealand. LeRoy Popwoski, third at last year's US Pro Championships, will make his first appearance at Boulder Peak. In the women's race there are no pro entries. Kerrie Wlad, last year's third place finisher, is the top returning duathlete.

I didn't know he was racing in Boulder after last weekend's jellyfish attack in Denmark, but Kaley Parkinson is most definitely not a woman.
