Powerman World Cup Japan was held in the beautiful city of Komatsu on a day that saw good weather, 210 competitors, and 12,000 spectators.
Double World Champion Benny Vansteelant led the first run in 30:46, followed by Yoshiyuki Shibata from Japan (37 seconds behind) and Japanese duathlete Shinnji Yamamoto (38 seconds behind). Benny retained his lead during the bike, but Henrike Svarre of Denmark moved into second going into T2 (2:52 behind Benny), followed by Yamamoto. Benny won in a new course record, with Svarre finishing in second, and Yamamoto in third, and Glenn Macnamara in fourth.
World Champion Erika Csomer led the first run in 32:42, followed by Harumi Matsumoto and Nadelle Gregg who were each 3+ minutes back. Csomer maintained the lead throughout, with Gregg taking second place and Harumi in third. Csomer's time also set a new course record.
