On Thursday, December 20, Triathlon Canada announced the members of the National Elite Team for 2002. Listed below are the members of the Elite Team. A development team was also named. See www.triathloncanada.com for more details.
Olympic Distance Triathlon
Kelly Guest, Jocelyn Gascon-Firoux, Stefan Jakobsen, Sebastien LaFlamme, Stefan Timms, Simon Whitfield, Sharon Donnelly, Natasha Filliol, Tereza Macel, Samantha McGlone, Carol Montgomery, Jill Savege
Long Distance Triathlon
Dave Harju, Garrett MacFayden, Peter Reid, Gilliam Bakker, Lisa Bentley, Lori Bowden, Heather Fuhr
Duathlon
Shane Armstrong, Kevin Breiter, Chad Kozak, Cheryl Murphy, Lucy Smith
Triathlon Canada did not release any details describing the benefits or reasons for maintaining a National Team.

Simon Whitfield? Mmm let me think now, I am sure he won some race or other in 2000. Not sure where it was, maybe it was the Olympic triathlon? Nah,couldn't be him,could it?
