Clif Bar Inc.'s Support of Multisports in 2002

BERKELEY, Calif., May 14, 2002 -- Clif Bar Inc. today announced its support of 75 multisport athletes in 2002, including the largest group of top professional triathletes and duathletes in company history. Clif Bar Inc.'s continuing involvement in the sports of triathlon and duathlon includes support of professionals at all levels as well as leading age-group competitors and community ambassadors.

Among the top female multisport athletes who've chosen Clif Bar Inc. this season are Beth Zinkand, No.1 U.S.-ranked long course specialist; rising Olympic distance star Becky Gibbs, Olympic Training Center resident Desiree Ficker and current U.S. Pro Duathlon Champion Andrea Ratkovic. On the men's side, Clif Bar Inc. continues to support Chris McCormack, currently the hottest triathlete in the world, and 2000 U.S. Olympian Ryan Bolton, as both men make their moves on Ironman Hawaii; Conrad Stoltz, the current Xterra World Champion; and Greg Watson, defending U.S. Pro Duathlon Champion.

Clif Bar Inc. will also continue its grassroots support of multisport athletes with its Team Clif Bar program. Team Clif Bar athletes are selected not just for their race results, but for the way they embrace the entire athletic experience-training, racing and community involvement-and for the efforts they make to share that experience with others as ambassadors for their sport. Team Clif Bar athletes receive a variety of clothing and gear, as well as Clif® Bar energy bars and Clif
SHOT® energy gel for the entire season. Athletes also have access to the company's media and performance incentive plans, as well as other financial assistance.

Headlining the company's event support is a three-year commitment to the Escape From Alcatraz triathlon (June 16). Clif Bar Inc. also is supporting the Gulf Coast Triathlon, Blackwater Eagleman Half Ironman, both Powerman Alabama and Tennessee, and the entire Dannon Duathlon Series.

Finally, Clif Bar has signed on with Endurance Films in support of its newest endeavors, the film "Racing Faster" and the Endurance Films Triathlon camps. "We've had a great working relationship with Wes Hobson (part owner of Endurance) for a long time," said Randall, "so it only
makes sense to support him and his business as he transitions from the full-time racing scene to that of an industry member and multisport ambassador."
