Oh Dear GOD!!! This is going to be a competitive race. Big names, fast times, and winning by mere seconds looks to be the theme of the day. Anyone who can win the St. Croix 1/2 IM in 4:11:35 is a force to be reckoned with. Why do all cut throat Duathlons take part in Zofingen? There must be something in the drinking water over there. Good luck to all, especially this Jay Cech fellow...

Its true, I went there the first time in 1992 and drank that water and I've never been the same since! ;)
GO Jay, you da man! Dos biggins....

It is a shame that the best duathletes in the world rarely compete against each other on a consistent basis.

Why are so many athletes in Zofingen? When I saw the race format i presumed it would be Draft legal. When i ask if it was, I got the reply that "this is duathlon" of course not. Great work Christian this is where Duathlon comes from and should be headed also. Honest Pros who dont want to draft and organisers who are prepared to do the extra work to ensure that it does not happen.

Great field indeed, but it's a shame that this Zofingen race is in the same weekend as the European Championships. It would have been a lot more spectacular when Huub Maas, Stefan Riesen en Richard Graemiger would have competed in Zeitz. Now it is "unbeatable Benny" who will win the gold medal without any major competition.

I think the ETU and ITU should work together to prevent any international events taking place in the same weekend as European or World Championships.

Thanks for this remark. I totally agree, but the problem is, as an organizer you have to fix the date for your race early enough which doesn't seem to be true for ITU and ETU races - they shift their dates as much and as late as they like. Look at Tri World Cup races for instance! They are normally "stronger" than small races and usually get the good athletes anyway, whatever they do. In this case - stonger field in Zofingen than at the Europeans MUST hurt them, and I hope it won't happen again next year. For the Intervall Duathlon Zofingen I can only say: we make it again 2003, again bigger - maybe that helps! AND: We'll have a great race this weekend!!

No, No, No veloman. "DAS" Biggins... None of this "Dos" or even "Doce" business. Two biggins makes no sense! We're talkin' about a bad inside joke here, that got way out of control, along with horrible German grammer associated with it. To tell you the truth I think I even forgot what it means. Anyways, "Here's to Christian and the great people of Zofingen. May the Intervall Duathlon be a great success." Prost!

I did the 'Volksduathlon' (same distance as elite 4/16/4/16/4 but none licence) in the afternoon. It was a great race (my first none sprint event, I finished 20. out of 46) and I will be defenitly back for next years race.
The weather was great, nice run and bike routes and many race marshals on the road to prevent drafting (and a super finisher shirt.)
