World Champion duathlete Karin Thurig had one of the fastest bike splits on the day and finished 9th overall at Ironman France. After beginning with a 65 minute swim, Thurig was 33 minutes faster than second place Gina Kehr of the United States. She finished with a 3:17 marathon.
Francois Chabaud of France held off another duathlete, Stefan Riesen of Switzerland, to win the men's race by 63 seconds. Chabaud's 3:02 marathon was just good enough to hold off Riesen with his 2:56 marathon.
