Some interesting names on the leader board. Solid result from Cam Widoff. Can Watson swim? It would be interesting to see him race against some big names in the tri world. Greg is an awesome athlete, why not learn to swim. Allows him more races to enter, increases value to sponsors, etc. In my opinion, swimming would not slow bike and run times.

mmmmm.... the guy works full-time, trains to be world class in Duathlon. Where is he going to find the time to fit in swim sessions, and be good enough to be competitive at international level.
I'm sure he has done Hawaii before??? I may be wrong though.
I don't believe there is any way a guy can competitive in Triathlon long races races, without being full-time athlete.
He is quite an incredibly consistent Duathlete though... probably the best Duathlete in the world that works full-time too!

OK, good point. I was unaware that Greg works full time. What type of job does he have? However, if you ask several top triathletes they will state that they "work" full time. Work is often times in the sports or personal training field. This is much diff from an age grouper or amateur's definition of work. I believe Greg is a awesome athlete. Maybe he is content being a top duathlete. He would certainly kick my ass.

Hi there,
I have been friends with the Greg and Nancy Watson for several years. They are both amazing athletes. In fact, back in the 90's, Nancy was both feared and respected by her competetors.
For your information, Greg does have a "real" job....whatever that means. He does not work in the sports world. He works FULL-TIME for MBNA. He has done the Hawaii Ironman and a few half ironmans all with respectable times and placings.
Not only is Greg an AWESOME athlete, but he's a really great guy that has a lot of fun in the sport who doesn't take himself too seriously.

Greg and Nancy Gugerty-Watson (Loch Raven Hi record holder) are two of the classiest people in the sport now and have been for 15+ years. Many elite athletes should learn from Greg the way he carries himself both on and off the field. (He swims like a rock, though)

Folks I hate to break your hearts here, but not all duathletes are triathletes who can't swim. I was uhdefeated as a triathlete the year I switched over full time to Du's. I just like them better. That is surely the case for lots of others. As an observation: swim results in a Tri does not correlate to overall results. Think about what that means.

Congratulations on a great race Greg. Awesome 2nd run to run Widoff down. The first run wasn't to bad either. Wish I could have been there to try to push it a little harder for you, but we all know how I like that bike course. See ya in a few weeks in MD.

Where is the love for Desiree? Well congrats Des. It looks like I was wrong about Boulder. You are an animal. :)

Travis has issued the challenge for the flats :)
Watson hammered Traverse last year...his split
was faster than Josh Beck's, who rides Cat. 1
