Walton was 6th place male. He lead off the bike and was caught on the run. I was at the event, and it was pretty exciting stuff. Barb was incredible and really hammered the enire field. The handicap was right on, even though Barb won by so much, I think she had a stellar day as the men filled all the rest of the top 9 spots.
Chris McCormack was greatly missed, as he is in Australia getting married, but I think he would have been hard pressed to match Simon Whitfield and Greg Bennett on the run. They were really travelling fast. All up it was a great race to watch. The rains from last year did not fall which made it a great day for all the spectators. The big pack of guys and girls that came off the bike together proved that the bike course is too tight. I raced on the course in the morning and was thinking the same thing. It is simply too narrow to ensure no drafting.
A good concept would be an individual Timetrial of men and women over the course at 2 minute intervals. That would be fair and great to see.
All in all it was a great race and some of these triathletes bank balances look great today.

I'm not convinced that the handicap was 'right on' since the men took 2-10. I guess it is if you want all the men to beat all of the women, but you would think if it was 'right on' then you would have some women mixed in there. Barb just outclassed all the women at this race. Maybe they should give her an additional handicap next time :)

Handicapped races are gay.
No other sport does this at the professional level, and then expects to be taken seriously.
This is the kind of gimmick that will never go beyond this race.
As for the money, sure, it was a nice purse for the racers, but a complete waste for the sport itself because of the handicapping nonsense that defies the premise of the word "professional."
This race was decided by whoever computed the handicapped time, not by Barb Lindquist. Deal with that reality folks.
Maybe the NFL should allow HOOTERS waitresses to play in their league and start their teams with a 260 point "handicap?"
And then, when Team HOOTERS beats the Chicago Bears 216-198, we can all try to convince ourselves that C-Cup waitresses in half shirts are better football players than the NFL men's teams.
Who did Barb Lindquist really beat with a 9 minute headstart on the men? I'll tell you who she beat: she beat nobody who finished less than 9 minute behind her. It's called basic algebra, your triathlete ostriches.
You don't see professional golf tournments giving Annika Sorrensten a 15 shot handicap advantage over Tiger Woods, do you? When she decides to play against men, her vagina becomes invisible and she hits off the same tee as the men. And reality showed she wasn't as good as the men, and that's why she got cut.
Barb Lindquist should go out and buy a handicapped license plate with that $250 K check and spend whatever money is left over on curing the delusions of the people who endorse this type of garbage at the pro level.
What a gay-ass queer event. Even real handicapped people don't like being called "handicapped" because they at least have a modicum of self-respect.
Thanks,
BATMAN
