Sweden's Clas Bjorling started the run six minutes behind Cameron Brown, but despite a fast run he fell 23 seconds short of catching Brown. Brown, a top finisher at Ironman Hawaii the last three years, was too strong for Bjorling, the fourth place finisher at Ironman New Zealand last year and one of the top finishers at Powerman Zofingen. The third place finisher, Chris McDonald, was 21 minutes back. Brown and Bjorling are preparing for Ironman New Zealand in March. Bianca Simpson led the women's race wire to wire to win by nearly two minutes over Marilyn McDonald.
