A couple weeks ago Duathlon.com ran a list of prize money duathlons and triathlons in the US. Here is an updated list of events paying $3,000 or more in prize money. A total of 44 events made this list, and with the exception of the Boston Monster Challenge (which hasn't announced prize money), the total paid out totals $2,122,000. That's an increase from 2002 when just under $1.5 million was paid out.

Quit and funny financial analysis.

Total Prize money = $2,122,050
Half to each Sex = $1,061,025
Lets say the winner gets 1/3 of the prize money.
If you won every race = $353,640

Conclusion: I'd rather be a baseball player.

This winter the Pro Bowling tour had 14 stops and the entry fee was $1000 per stop plus you have hotels, air/car, food and other expenses and out of the 200 pro-bowlers only the top 50 cash and there is no pay for number 51. Better get that average up to at least 260 and better yet 280 on the local lanes before you leave triathlon/duathlon in search of easy money and big pay-outs in bowling. Either way, good luck.
