Andrea was taken to the emergency room at Norman Regional Hospital where she was treated and released. Andrea is expected to make a full recovery and start her cycling season as scheduled. Andrea who rides for TDS-Schwalbe High Speed Cycling Team is expected to race next week as scheduled in Redlands, CA. on March 18th in the Pomona Valley Stage Race and Redlands Bicycle Classic.

dogs.....wish I had a dollar for every time I was hassled by a dog on a run. Someone had suggested I carry pepper spray for these situations, but I feel compelled to spray the dog's owner rather than the dog..

Not to be a jerk but did Andrea have a helmet on? Some of those dog owners can be so inconsiderate when it comes to restraining their dog(s). We wish you all the best for quick recovery Rat! Come back stronger than ever and use this time as a way to increase your focus and inspire others. Now, call the SPCA and then call a lawyer so you litigate this negligent person who gives dog-owning a bad name! Peace.

Andrea I wish you all the best, I've been there. Have faith, things fall apart so that they can fall together. We all believe in you and I am sure you CAN return from this! -- See you at the trials!

Dogs are a scourge. But in my part of the world if you get caught spraying a dog with repellant spray, the owner may very well run you into the ditch with his SUV, laughing all the way! Most of the time I just yell obscenities at the critter, long enough to out run them. Get better Rat and kick some big-time butt in your next event!

This sort of thing would never happen in Boulder, where there are no dog OWNERS. Instead, the city has proclaimed them "PET GUARDIANS". Theoretically, no dog goes unsupervised (or unloved!)
