Marcel Vifian and Lindsay Krause won the first event in the Mile High Duathlon Series. John Phillips had the fastest bike but Vifian had the fastest runs. Phillips led going into the run, while Josiah Middaugh and Vifian started the run together in second and third place. Both passed Phillips as Vifian went on to win. Middaugh placed second and Phillips was third.
The women's race unfolded the same way as Krause and Lisa Isom finished the bike together. Krause ran the final 5k in 20:11 and Isom in 22:00 as the pair finished first and second. Amy Friedman was third.
The next two events in the series take place June 19 in Bennett and July 10 in Wiggins, Colorado. Series information is located here. The series offers age group awards and $2,000 in prize money.
