Big Sky Duathlon Bennett, Colorado Saturday, June 19, 2004 4k run, 25k bike, 4k run
While rain and was drenching the Colorado front range for most of a week and on race morning, it was dry for the Big Sky Duathlon, which took place east of Denver. This is the second race in the three race Mile High Duathlon Series. The first run was flat and several men finished the run together. Josiah Middaugh and Greg Krause took the lead on the bike and held it until John Phillips rolled by at mile nine. Phillips, who is preparing for the long distance Duathlon World Championships in Denmark, held the lead until early in the run. Middaugh and Krause passed him, and Middaugh won by 3 seconds over Krause. Phillips finished third.
The women's race went to Greg's wife, Lindsay Krause. Krause, who also won the fist race in the series, led the first run and extended on the bike as she won by 1:32 over Amy Friedman. Gwen Erffmeyer was third.
The final race in the series is July 10 in Wiggins, Colorado.
