The 5430 Duathlon seems to be a race that favors the cyclist over the runner, with a 4.3:1 ratio! Usually, in a race like this, the race director just adds an 8k/5m run on the front, and keeps the 2nd run a half-
marathon. To split it like this a great idea - at least for a cyclist!

33 du finishers vs 330 tri finishers. Just shows that it is hard to put on a stand alone long distance duathlon race.

The duathlon is an after thought for this race. Last year they didn't even have the 1st run marked and the leaders had to be creative to make it back to the transition. If they put more into the duathlon it would pull bigger numbers since it is one of the few long du's here in Colorado.
