Jonathan Hall Pulls Out Of World Champs

Jonathan Hall's return to duathlon from cycling has been stalled by the flu. He became ill three days ago with a fever and strong flu symptoms, forcing him to miss his trip to Powerman South Africa, the long course World Championships.

Hall put on one of the most incredible cycling performances in the sports history, when he blasted into the lead on the bike leg of the 1997 World Championships in Gernika, Spain, where he still lives. In that bike legal race Hall rode into the lead at 7k and no one was able to stay on his wheel. His lead was big enough that he was never challenged over the final 5k run. Hall then took up a cycling career with Festina.

Jono's ride at Du worlds in Gernika was the most dominating performance I have witnessed in multisport racing. I watched him crush the field on the bike and then have an easy run to win.
His return will be good for duathlon.

Good for Duathlon provided drug controls are reinforced, as we all clearly know what is happening (and happened) in the cyclist pro field.

I see that Jono is head VIS coach now. I wonder if he will ever admit to the EPO, growth hormone, testosterone and Belgium POT that he took in order to win the World Duathlon title in 1997? He has to live with his own conscience. Lying, all these years.
