The 27th edition of the Apple Duathlon was the elite qualifying race for the 2009 World Championships and it brought a strong field to Sartell, Minnesota for the race. In the men's event, the 4 time winner David Thompson continued his winning ways in course record time. In the women's race, Marlo McGaver won her fourth Apple Duathlon with her strong running at front of the women's race.
