Powerman Zofingen is one of the most significant long course duathlons in the world and its reputation was only supported by the fine performances of its 2009 winners. Joerie Vansteelant made his debut in Zofingen and using the same type of racing that made him the long course Duathlon World Champion he tamed not only the fearsome course, the elite field but also the course record. Vansteelant's final time of 6:11:35 was faster than the previous mark but over 5 minutes. Erika Csomor showed her dedication to the event by racing amidst a heavy calendar and winning for the sixth time in a row.
