The second Dannon Duathlon of the year takes place Sunday, sandwiched between Powerman Alabama and Powerman Tennessee. With Dannon Grenelefe just three weeks earlier, this marks this toughest early season racing schedule duathletes have faced.

Greg Watson, ranked fourth in the world and winner of the last seven Dannon Duathlons, will be tested to keep the streak alive. He must beat Huub Maas of the Netherlands, winner of Powerman Alabama and ranked ninth in the world. And there is also Michael Tobin racing in his first ever Dannon Duathlon. Beyond them, Paul Sklar, Chris Tolonen, and Brian Barkhouse are strong runners and will be racing on fresh legs, having skipped Powerman Alabama. Daniel Keller, ranked 21st in the world, will be at a disadvantage in this draft legal race. Keller is known for his cycling.

The favorite in the women's field is Andrea Ratkovic, who will be racing in just her third duathlon. Ratkovic won two early season duathlons, and followed that with several weeks of bike racing out west.

This race is draft legal for the pros, which means the runs and transitions will be extremely important. Last year bad transitions left a couple pros out of the lead pack. Only ITU legal aerobars, and normal drop handlebars, are allowed for use by the pro field.

The third Dannon Duathlon takes place in Boston on May 20. This will also be an F1 format race: 2m run, 10m bike, 2m run, 10m bike, 2m run. Dannon Carlsbad on July 15 is the US Age Group and Pro Championships. For more information on the seven race Dannon Series visit www.dannonduathlon.com.
