Normann Stadler and Lori Bowden successfully defended their titles in Australia. Bowden turned what was a close race at the end of the bike into a half hour victory, breaking her own run course record with a 3:01 marathon. Tim DeBoom reportedly over heated in his wetsuit and dropped out during the swim.
