I have had this problem for about 2 months now. It was caused by over exercise, I was training to be a Marine. I have visited 2 doctors, and all they told me was to see a physical therapist, and that it was "Tendinitis".
I have pain in the outer part of my left ankle. I had to walk on it for work, and the condition just kept getting worse. I feel very stupid for not listening to my body. Over the last three weeks I have been doing stretches that my physical therapist told me to do. I have been in therapy for three weeks now, and nothing seems to get better. I got an X-Ray done on it and nothing showed up. I was wondering if Prolotherapy, MRI, or getting anything done to fix this condition so I can get on with my life.

An X-Ray will only show if your foot is broken in half and not much else. A useful tool for football injuries; not so great for running injuries. I just had an MRI done on my left foot and it showed a bone bruise in my ankle joint which is a precursor to a stress fracture.

I am a physical therapist and would be interested in knowing more about your symptoms. Do you have swelling? is you pain constant? does it hurt with standing or walking? If so, how long until the pain starts - immediately or after several minutes/hours? where is the pain and is the pain very localized?
I have worked with some very stubborn ankle injuries (x-ray and MRI's normal) in the past that have taken a lot of time to heal. Is your current therapist aware of your frustration with the lack of improvement?
