What to eat during duathlon race? Reply
by schweers on June 16, 2008 Mail this to a friend!
Hi,

I am training for my first duathlon, and I am an avid runner so I am familiar with gels, and sports beverages. However, can someone give me some advice as to when and what I should consume doing a duathlon? Is there any difference? I love taking gels, and usually I take a gel after running an hour, but my first duathlon in a 5k,30k,5k race!

Thank you!

There is no reason to eat anything for a race of that distance. A bottle or two of your favorite energy drink should suffice.

Thank you for the advice, so I just just use my sports drink while I am on the bike?

If you're used to eating a gel after 60 minutes, why do you need to change your habbit for a du? The time for your du isn't much different from a half marathon. Just eat something 60 minutes into the race dude LOL...remember K.I.S.S.
