I am an ex-elite triathlete and I now aim to compete in the powerman series next year.
I am in the now in process of buying a triathlon bike. I am used to riding a road bike as the triathlon races I competed were draft legal and the only knowledge I have of Tri bikes is what I read from reviews.
It would appear that cervelo has all the speed records. On the other hand everyone seemed to be riding a specialised in the tour this year. Also I have rode a cannondale road bike for the past 15 year and I think they are one of the most comfortable bike around.
So I am completely torn between these 3 brands of tri bikes.
Are the cannondale tri bikes as good as their road bikes?
Which bike would you guys recommend; Specialized, Cannodale or Cervelo?
Is the Cervelo time trial bike really the fastest bike? is it faster than the Specialized and Cannodale?
I would appreciate any advise you could give me.
I of course would like to test ride the bike before I buy it but many of the bike shops do not have these bikes in stock and will only order it if I am going to buy the bike. Therefore I do not believe it will be possible to test ride and decide on which bike based on which proves to be the most comfortable during the test ride.Accordingly I will be relying on any advice you experienced long distance duathletes can give me.
By the way I am a very light build so I find that the weight of the bike I cycle affects me a lot.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

You're an ex-elite and wandering about bikes??
Get thee to a tri specific shop that does F.I.S.T. fitting.
I got a Cervelo P2 this year (upgrade from a hybrid) and my bike cruising speed has went from 18/19mph to 24/25 on flat to rolling courses. While the P2 is an awesome bike especially equipped with a Jet6/9 combo it is more a matter of how big the engine is pusing the thing down the road...I lead the bike splits in the masters category but its more about me than what bike I'm on. A bike that fits you will let you roar down the road.
Fit will decide which bike you get. It was a P2 for me-I would not fit into a P3 or a P4.
