Looking at the bike course map and the video of Rimini on the race site, it looks like the course is 6 loops and flat as a pancake with only a couple of turns (unlike RIchmond!)
Anyone who's raced there before: can you confirm my take on the bike course? Any sense on whether heavy crosswinds are likely or if its a "disc friendly" course?
Thanks,
LB

I checked last years weather, winds out of the south gusty to about 10mph all day. two days earlier, steady 15mph out of the east after 11 am, but that was last year. I don't have a disc, I will be using zipp 303/650.

I was there in 2001, when races spread over three days, Elites and Juniors had worst conditions mixed rain with some wind, Age Groupers had generally fine weather, no cross winds that I can remember.
The problem with the course is that it just turned into a massive Draft Fest as the strong cyclists came through the better runners and as the packs grew the momentum got faster and faster.
Draft Busters did their best but it was pretty crazy.
That aside it is one fast course and still stands as my PB, was well worth the trip.

Thanks for the info! Here's hoping for good weather this year. It'll be my first worlds and my wife's second, so needless to say we're pretty excited. Not least by the opportunity for excellent espresso and Italian cuisine!

Draft legal for pro's, not for age group.
As indicated in prior dicussions, the nature of the course (small circuit loops and no hills) coupled with a cultural mindset among european racers and the general attitude of officials in europe, drafting violations in european races are not as easily given out by race officials as they are in the states.
Do not be surpised to see someone on your wheel on those straight aways. You can spend a lot of energy either trying to get people off of your tail or just focus on what is in front of you and bring a big chain ring.

don't forget that whopper of an entry fee... like 3 hundred bones.. and the fact you better prepare to bend over when you exchange currencies.. oh and the likely bike airline fee 100-200$.. and...
but hey, it is only money and the best money spent is spent traveling & seeing the world.. cant take it with you when you cash out
