Does anyone have reliable information on whether or not one can store bike cases at airports in Italy? I intend to do some traveling after the race and wish to avoid lugging a bike case around europe. I have heard that airports in europe have storage facilities that can accommodate something as big a bike cases but can not find information via the web.

Most European airports have storage facilities for large items. Usually cost between $5-$10.00 a day unless rates have gone up. If you pull up the facilities map of the airport the storage facility is usually marked on the map. I know Munich and Frankfurt have storage as I have used both facilities to store my bikes.

Thanks Don, I will definitely check it out. I if find out anything I will post on this discussion topic.
Side note - Good to hear from you my friend. Age seems to be a war of attrition. Me, I am on a rebound in terms of training and trying to save what little speed I got left on the run. Rode the Colorado Bike Tour of the Rockies in June and enjoyed the mileage and hills.

For those interested, I received an email from Bologna airport officials which stated that the airport does not provide storage facilities nor do they have any companies that provide such service. I am looking to see if the Bologna rail station provide this service.

Jim,
I sent an inquiry to the Balogna Tourist agency and they said you can store bikes at Autorimessa Pincio, Via Independenza7/1/z,Balogna, IT. The phone number is 39 051 249081. They are open from 7AM-12 noon. I pulled them up on their website and they rent bikes and is near the train station. I hope this helps.
