I am currently training for my first duathlon. I feel I am physically strong enough and my endurance is good. However, I am nervous about a smooth transition to the bike and back to the run, the clothing, proper shoes, etc. I have a cheap mountain bike I train on. Do I need a new bike? At this point I just don't want to look like an idiot and come in last. My goal is to finish strong. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Help!!

Try it out first before you invest. You'll see quite a few people at the Du racing just like you. I personally rarely look at what people are riding, just that they are in front of me, so I just have to go faster (or try too anyways). :)
Enjoy your first Du! Good Luck!

just go out and have fun. worry about your equipment only if it breaks down, then think about upgrading!

Try it out first before you invest. Don 't worry about it.
