My city of 32,000 would like to get more involved with fitness and would like to host a Duathlon series
during the spring, summer, and fall of 2011. We have a good deal of runners and cyclists in the area and we are located next to a large Army post.
Where can I find help in planing and organizing these events? From sanctioning bodies to the different lengths for courses, I need all the info for hosting a successful Duathlon.

where do you live?
you'll hire a race director, who will manage the event for you.. they will work w/ you on permits, t-shirts, trophies, manage the finish line and results.. the whole enchilada.
i believe they get a flat fee + a cut based on attendence.
you could get the race sanctioned but the only value the usat will add is cheaper insurance. the vast majority of racers could care less about having the distance certified or having marshalls on the course.
usatriathlon.org might even have a list of race directors in your region.
good luck!
