If you have done either of the races (Escape or just Alcatraz Tri (the original)), do you think this is the most fun race you have ever run??? I put it #1 on my list, I was absolutely flying, and still having the time of my life. The scenery is beautiful, the swim is challenging, and the run course is tough, but thrilling (especially the Sand Ladder). After Leib Doddel's article in IT last month, just trying to see if other really feel like that, or loved this race.

A great original race and a lot of fun, though much more fun if you have a good wetsuit and don't get hypothermia, which can really put a damper on the whole race. (so don't make my rookie mistake!)

I am hard core about most things but not cold water! For some reason, I suffer very easily below a certain level. About 76 and below my performance suffers: My muscles seem to lock up and I can't go fast at all. I've always been this way. But with Alcatraz, I might've been beter off with vaseline. My wetsuit (i will not reveal the company) was terrible, not very bouyant or thermal-protective. Suffice to say, I will be using a different wetsuit next year.
Is anyone else out there also very sensitive to cold water? Any solutions?
