Powerman Austria weather/flooding Reply

With the reported flooding in Austria, anybody know how course conditions have been impacted? I've emailed the race director but they're probably too busy to answer some slug (that being me) from the US right now. I know that Steyr, the town I'm staying in about 30 miles away, is flooded downtown where my hotel is. I remember Sparky sleeping in the damned race hut at Saturn(I think it was) last year. That'll be me tomorrow, I guess.... Gee, maybe tht won't be too bad, as Sparky had a good race that day. Of course, I'm 25 years older than he is. My lumbago will flare up, and my truss might get wet. As you can see, I need to get racing. I'm going lunatic!!!!

I know that the flooding in Linz (very close to the race site) is so bad that people have been rescued by Helicopters in baskets. I had a relative of mine who speaks German call my pension I am staying in and the person there said it is better now than yesterday and is not suppose to be bad. He did however say it was bad in Vienna still.

Eric, maybe they will give you some information since you are "Du.com".

Hi all !

I'm the webmaster of the POWERMAN Austria website (www.powerman.at).
I can tell you that the weather is now much better and the water levels of the rivers near Weyer (Enns and Danube) are now going to trace back to their normal levels.
The event will take place on the original course.
Also the situation in Steyr is now much better than in the past days.
... so the POWERMAN Austria should be a great event for all athletes !!

For further information you may try office@powerman.at

Greetings from Weyer,
Chris

Chris,

Thanks for the input. I was wondering if I should bring a cyclocross bike! See you soon....

I,ve been stuck in Vienna since Tuesday. My bike is in customs and it looks like it won,t get cleared. There is flooding along the Danube, where the customs broker is. I,ve offered to wade in and get the bike, but they aren,t interested!

Arranged a backup bike, so will be in Weyer this afternoon. Can,t wait to get there.
