Sprint Distance Duathlon Worlds?

I noticed that they are having a sprint distance world championship the same day as the short course. Does anyone know how the qualification process worked? I noticed that in my age group the 7th, 24th, 26th, 27th placed racers at Nationals are doing the sprint distance. Was nationals the only qualifier for the sprint distance as well but rolled down past 25. Did the racers get the choice?

Qualifiers at Short Course Nationals had the choice of either sprint 5K run 20K Bike 2.5 K run or standard distance 10K run 40K bike 5K runat Worlds.

No, at Duathlon nationals there was only one event, a modified standard distance race. The ITU added the Sprint distance race I believe in late July well after our national championships. The USAT sent an email to those who had qualified for the standard distance and let any of those who wanted to change to the Sprint do so. USAT is looking into holding a sprint distance along with the standard distance qualifier this year. However, to date, I do not know if the ITU is going to run a sprint race at world championships next year or not.

There is no SPRINT Duathlon ITU World Championship in Nancy.
The SPRINT event is OFF.
There is a SMALL cahnce that one will be re-instated.
