Well worth considering  Time owned: more than 12 months
For around $2K you get a light, responsive, fun bike to ride. I bought mine in 2002 and it has dragged my 6'1", 205lbs Clydesdale ass around Ironman Hawai'i, Pacific Crest, USAT Nationals, and a variety of other events around the country. The only problem I had was blowing out a Bontrager hub. To classify this bike (not to mention the $2K+ it costs) as being for a beginner is irresponsible. Just add pedals, a water bottle rack, & a cycling computer & you're ready to race the posers on machines costing twice as much.

I'm pleased  Time owned: more than 12 months
well, I didn't make the mistake of confusing this $2200 complete bike with the $10000 Lance Armstron time trial bike. First of all, this is a triathlon bike - and it does great for that purpose. I've ridden this bike since summer '00 and 2 years later, there is nothing out there I'd trade this bike for. Sure, its a little stiff in the rear - but it rides comfortable and QUICK. I train on a kestrel and race on this bike. So far, nothing has gone out of adjustment or has failed yet. The components are well spec'd. you really can't go wrong buying this bike.

Great first triathlon bike  Time owned: months

To begin with, don't confuse this with being close to the performance as Trek's top of the line TT frame which was designed to help Lance Armstrong win the Tour de France. This is like saying a Chevy Geo has some of the same perfomance as their top of the line Corvette.
But Trek makes a fine bike for a first time triathlete looking to buy their first entry level tri bike. But with a 1 1/8th wide aero down tube as the only aero aspect of the bike, and clincher wheels, this bike is for beginners only.
