A season of riding the Paketa magnesium road frame convinced me it is one of the best rides out there. I used to ride Litespeeds and the Paketa puts them to shame. I feel like all my energy is transfered to the road, with nothing wasted, and this is especially noticeable while climbing or accelerating out of corners. Th Paketa is also incredibly smooth, even riding the muddy wet cobblestones in Europe. Its great because I never have any doubts about my bike and it's effect on my performance, I can do anything on this bike.
I ride a Paketa Mg Mountain bike and love it. I was not fond of the first fork I tried on the bike, but with my new fork this is one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. The “bike for the buck” ratio is thru the roof, as a mechanic I have had the opportunity to ride many bikes that cost twice as much but none that are worth what this bike is. I prefer this bike to my built GT that was worth over 4K. The Paketa climes hard and fast and even with the old fork it descended as stable as some short travel full suspension frames I have ridden, plus I like knowing that I have one of the most exotic bikes around. I can’t wait to get my hands on what ever Paketa brings out for 2004.
I have tried every single bike frame material out there, and nothing compares to the feeling of riding a magnesium frame. If you don't go see it yourself, you won't understand what I am talking about. I own 2 Paketas and am incredibly happy with my purchase.
Paketa ( pron. ra-kie-ta) is the best name for this bike and means a rocket in Russian .
I ride a store demo and almost each time I go on a group ride , there is somebody willing to take it for a spin . Since this is my first road bike I rely on opinion of very experienced riders and racers . They are just amazed how light the frame is ( around 16 lb) , how fast they can reach maximum speed , how well it climbs , corners and blocks shocks from the road .
I have been cycling for 18 years now and have ridden quite a variety of bikes. After taking about a week to set the Paketa up for time trialing, dialing in the position that is, I set off on my new ride. The bike was amazing. It handled very well which was nice because many TT bikes do not handle that well. Because the frame is meant to be a road frame, the geometry leant itself to performing better in corners and such. After all was said and done, the bike was amazing and I am looking forward to next years TT's. Eddy
...that is the only way that I can describe this bike! I have ridden many $4,000+ bikes and none of them even compair. The paketa is more comfortable and faster. It has amazing vibration dampening while still being super stiff. If I were to purchase any bike in the world this would be the one I would get, No questions asked!
After spending several seasons on a carbon frame, I felt like I wanted something a little more lively and less "dead" feeling, but I didn't want to sacrifice the comfortable ride. After researching the ride qualities of magnesium, I thought I would give it a try. The guys at Paketa were great, and dialed the fit of the demo bike in almost perfect for me. The ride blew me away! Just a couple miles were all it took to convince me this frame offered everything I had wanted and more! I didn't count on the lightning acceleration and totally responsive ride. Handling was super neutral (no-handed riding was no problem), but felt quite raceable. Super smooth ride, but lively and fast feeling too! I've had it about a month and a half now, and I can't wait for the 2004 race season, as I'm feeling more confident already. Not too many know about this bike, so if you end up with one, don't tell your competition!
