Good stuff!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I've experimented with gels before, as I do a fair bit of intense training, most of them are very chemical-like and unpleasant to swallow.

I purchased some samples of carb-boom, just to see if I can enhance my performance during training.

For effectiveness I give this gel 5/5... also, for taste, it gets a 5/5 for being the most 'real-tasting' gel out there. It's very easy to swallow and doesn't upset the stomach like other gels seem to.

4/5 this time as I'm reviewing the Double-espresso gel, which contains 100mg caffeine. Taste-wise, it tastes very realistically of coffee, slightly sweet coffee actually! I tried this during a 3hr exercise session, when I hadn't been able to eat beforehand. 20 minutes after consuming this, I was high as a kite and had energy to burn... not only did I whizz through my spinning class on high-resistance, at speed (Having just done an intense workout class + weights beforehand), I went swimming afterwards and zipped 80 lengths in a shade over 30 minutes.

I highly recommend this particular gel if you're in need of a serious energy boost and mental perk!! I don't recommend it if you're sensitive to caffeine!

Fast energy or fast pace rides. My favorite is Carb BOOM!  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Carb BOOM! gels usually work for me when it comes to fast energy, or fast pace rides. My favorite is Carb BOOM!.

Carb BOOM! gel is great for people who can't handle large amounts of sugar at one time, especially while trying to ride hard in hotter weather. Carb-Boom is not overly sweet, and goes down smoothly. I haven't had the same cramps I get from the Honey Stingers, Gu and Power Bar while using this product. Carb-Boom Kiwi Strawberry and Banana Peach is very yummy. It has no caffeine, and it has real fruit in it, so it tastes like real food, not chemically like some of the gels can.

PROS

> Goes Down Easy, Good Value, Tasty, Works Quickly

> Special blend complex carbohydrates and just 2-4g of simple sugars to maximize energy delivery to working muscles

> Two essential electrolytes are present to effectively assist rehydratation, aid in key metabolic reactions and help replenish electrolytes lost in sweat

> Great tasting made from super concentrated
complex carbohydrates and flavored with real fruit

> Products contain no artificial colours, flavour or sweetener

I only use Carbboom now and you can also get it in the New 24 servings bottle and use a 5 shot flask. They usually run around $20 (lots less per serving than pouches), and the flask is a lot easier to deal with than the little foil pouches.

Highly recommended !

below par  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
By no means do i think this is an awful product, but as a consistant user of gu like products for the past 5 or 6 years (I ran track and XC for my HS, then I have started to do du's during the summer and winter instead of long road races) I have become quite picky about which kinds I will consume before the race. With carb-boom i have only expierenced run of the mill results, and bad taste. I much prefer the taste and the performance of "GU" to Carb-boom. It seems to boost my performance more and it is a lot easier to swallow, plus it sets better. I have expiernced very mild cases of "bloating" if you will w/ Carb-boom. I tried carb-boom for 2.5 months before trying different types.

Perfect consistency  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I Love CarbBOOM because they aren't too viscous like powergel and more viscous than those corn syrup Clif gels I used to use. I only use Carbboom now and you can also get it in a 1l bottle, too.
I give this product a 4 not 5 because I think the flavours could use a little work. I only use the Strawberry-Kiwi.

They're Grrrrreat!!!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I've tried energy gels/power gels, recovery drinks, etc. Unfortunately, I have had to stay away from most of them because they are either too sweet or don't agree with me (i.e. bloating, etc.). I was recently introduced to Carb-BOOM (particularly the orange/vanilla flavour) and have found my race mate! I'm heading to Powerman Vlaanderen to compete in my first long distance event and I'm loading up on Carb-BOOM before I leave, if I can find enough in the bike store... they seem to be snatched up as soon as the shipment arrives.

bloating and cramping  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
THe flavors were ok, but the results were less than spectacular. THe sodium benzoate makes me bloat.

not bad!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I was introduced to Carb-BOOM energy gel by Paul Thomas, former National Sales Manager. I even worked for the company at a few events.

After getting familiar with the company, I noticed that I recognize the person who posted previous to mine, MCARY. The company is so excited about their products, they have their employees pad the feedback for Carb-BOOM for the gel reviews.

It is a great product, but they need to let the general population do the voting.

GROSSO

Wheat-free!  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
As a celiac (intolerant to the cereal grains), I have been looking for a wheat and grain free energy gel. For those .5% of triatletes with this condition, Carb-BOOM is perfect. I contacted the company, and so far, this is the only artificial sports energy food that is totally free of wheat.

very tastey, my favorite energy gel  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I never tried this until last spring. I used the apple flavored gel at Wildflower 1/2 and man it was awesome. At mile 11 on the run, I did a "taste-test" comparison between Carb-BOOM and power gel, just to see if there really was a difference in taste. Trust me, Carb-BOOM was a lot better - no after taste, no digestive problems. I then used it at Ironman Canada- can you imagine eating an energy gel for 10 and half hours and having it still taste good? This stuff is great- try it !!!
